Victoria + Jon: Vintage Hawaiian Themed Wedding at Duke's Malibu Restaurant

Vintage Hawaiian Themed Wedding with Heirloom Wedding Shoes, Palm Leaves, Teeva Sandals, and Cake by the Ocean

Victoria and Jon had a wedding day bursting with so much radiating joy and so many personal touches that even now each memory is time stamped with the sweet details. Like flashes of color I see Victoria’s Teeva wedding shoes and hear the karaoke toasts - each fun moment so true to them both.

Victoria and her mom and closest friends got ready together in the cutest two story white-walled Airbnb in the hills of Topanga. From the big, sun soaked windows to the shiplapped walls of Joanna Gaine’s dreams - the whole thing gave me major decor envy.

Victoria had two pairs of shoes - her mother’s own wedding shoes, a pair of ivory satin kitten heels that she planned to wear during the wedding ceremony, and the others a pair of bright white Teeva sandals. Her style is too good. After she zipped into her dreamy, low cut, elegant white gown she disappeared for a private first look with Jon.

I’ve gotten to be present for a lot of first looks, and each is so special in their own way, but Jon’s reaction to his bride may go down as one of my all time favorites. I can’t remember the exact words that spilled from his excited mouth but they were something along the lines of: “Oh my goodness, you are so beautiful! Your hair, it’s amazing! Your dress, it is incredible! I am so lucky you are so perfect! Your hair is gorgeous! Can I touch you? WOW your skin is so soft! I can’t believe this, you’re so beautiful!!” Just wait until you see his reaction to her actual wedding shoes - Teeva sandals!

Victoria and Jon chose a vintage Hawaii theme, so naturally Dukes Malibu - a popular seafood restaurant - was the perfect spot for them to tie the knot! Victoria’s style elements in combination with the venue’s bright orange, cedar lined walls with warm yellow string lights, wall-to-wall windows offering a panorama of ocean scapes, and pops of Palm Tree green everywhere brought their vision to life. Jon’s blue, tropical patterned suit, the colorful birds of paradise in the bouquets by Wild Flora, and the pink and orange balloon wall by Oh Shiny! were some of my very favorite style elements of this colorful celebration!

The ceremony was filled with the sweetness of forever promises as Jon and Victoria took each vow seriously, swearing to love and serve one another as long as they both shall live. Immediately following, everyone in attendance piled onto the balcony for a huge group photo - what a fun memory! These newlyweds stole away for a quiet moment on the balcony to share some happy tears over their new union and enjoy the preciousness of a covenant embrace. Jon softly brushed Victoria’s tears off her cheeks and stole his bride away to the tiny sliver of sand for some just married moments.

Their sandy romantics were full of beachside snuggles, wandering through the sand, and flipping off the camera with their new wedding bands by Lacee Alexandra. Another tender moment was just as V + J were about to head into their ceremony, the couple who lived next door came out and offered them to take their pick from the heart shaped rocks they had collected along the shore as a wedding gift. It was the perfect touch since Jon taught Victoria to skip rocks, and they two of them did together during their engagement shoot!

Victoria and Jon’s family and guests were so fun and they had a few planned surprises for their reception evening. Quite possibly the best father of the groom speech ever happened when Jon’s father literally karaoke’d Elvis Presley’s “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” and it was SO GOOD that we all thought he was lip syncing! Equally as touching, the father of the bride recited verses from “Butterfly Kisses” to Victoria in front of their entire wedding party, leaving not a dry eye in the room. My final favorite family moment was immediately following both the mother-son and father -daughter dances, the father of the bride AND the groom then proceeded to share a dance, full of twists and spins and many iPhone recordings and giggles.

The entire day was full of bright, warm colors, sweet happy smiles, and the perfect culmination of beachy style that turned this picture perfect wedding into an absolute dream. From their cutie engagement session in the Santa Monica Hills and Malibu, to their coastline wedding at Duke’s Malibu, Victoria and Jon have captured my heart!
