Mid Century Themed Engagement Session in Downtown Palm Springs

Ace Hotel, The Saguaro, Downtown, Deepwell, and a Yellow Lab

Since Max and Olivia are having a very tropical destination in Cabo, Mexico, they wanted to take some very different styled engagement photos that felt more true to their every day style. Looking for mid-century vibes, there was no where better to go to capture their engagement photos than the abundantly mid-century city of Palm Springs. They chose to make a weekend out of their engagement session, bringing along their very dear yellow lab mix, named Luda, for some of their photos and two friends to share the weekend at a hotel with!

Max and Olivia invited me for drinks poolside at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs and after enjoying a piña colada each at the poolside bar (part of The Amigo Room), we started our adventure around Palm Springs together! Stopping by some of the iconic stair cases and wooden hotel room doors of the Ace Hotel, we captured photos of the Max and Olivia along with Luda! One of my favorite spots we stopped at while visiting the Ace Hotel was actually the entrance by the valet! The stone facade and cacti felt like a perfect blend of the traditional 50s architecture and Palm Springs aesthetic.

No trip to Palm Springs feels complete without a stop at The Saguaro, the rainbow hotel of Palm Springs. The entire outside of the hotel is painted in different colors, and it is easy to pick you favorite color and make it your backdrop! Max and Olivia chose a yellow wall as their favorite color to stand in front of before standing in front of the gorgeously bloomed bougainvillea nearby!

The four of us wandered through downtown Palm Springs area, enjoying the bursts of mid century personality each building featured. We stopped in front of a bright orange mid century modern breeze-block to incorporate some more of those mod vibes as well as the huge blue tiled mosaic wall at the Bank of America of all places! There is so much personality in all of the buildings it was easy to bring so much character into their photos!

We ended our time together in the iconic and luxurious Deepwell neighborhood of Palm Springs. Nearly each home features Eichler architecture or flat roofs, perfectly decorated with gravel yards and palm trees with cacti embellishments. Max, Olivia, and Luda, ran around the streets of Deepwell together, stopping at their favorite home for a moment that they rented to stay in for their first trip together in Palm Springs.

By the end of their engagement shoot it felt impossible to pick a favorite spot from our time in Palm Springs capturing their engagement! Every single stop was so vibrant and special and Max and Olivia (and Luda) made it so much fun!!
